Description
Banoffee Pie is a classic British dessert made with a buttery biscuit crust, a rich layer of toffee (dulce de leche), fresh bananas, and a fluffy whipped cream topping. This no-bake pie is easy to make and irresistibly delicious with its perfect balance of creamy, sweet, and crunchy textures. A great choice for gatherings or a simple yet indulgent treat!
Ingredients
For the Crust:
2 cups digestive biscuits or graham crackers, crushed
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Toffee Layer:
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (or store-bought dulce de leche)
2 tbsp butter (optional, for extra creaminess)
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
For the Topping:
3 ripe bananas, sliced
1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
For Garnish (Optional):
Grated chocolate or cocoa powder
Chocolate shavings or caramel drizzle
Instructions
Prepare the Crust:
Crush the biscuits or graham crackers into fine crumbs using a food processor or a rolling pin.
Mix with melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
Press firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to set.
Make the Toffee Layer: (Skip this step if using store-bought dulce de leche.)
Pour the sweetened condensed milk into a saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens and turns golden caramel in color. (Or use the boiling can method, simmering the sealed can for 2–3 hours in water.)
Remove from heat, stir in 2 tbsp butter (optional) and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
Let it cool slightly, then spread over the chilled crust.
Add the Bananas:
Slice the bananas and arrange them evenly over the toffee layer.
Whip the Cream:
In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
Spread the whipped cream over the banana layer.
Garnish & Chill:
Sprinkle with grated chocolate, cocoa powder, or chocolate shavings for a finishing touch.
Chill for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld.
Serve & Enjoy!
Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
Quick Version: Use store-bought dulce de leche to save time.
Make-Ahead Tip: Assemble the pie without the whipped cream and store it in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Add the cream topping before serving.
Storage: Keep refrigerated for up to 3 days.
Banana Tip: To prevent bananas from browning, lightly brush them with lemon juice before layering.
